Kids grill cheese and 2 kids catfish dinners. Our order included 3 spaghetti and meatball dinners, a cheeseburger meal. We understand the shortage of servers, food, etc. We were a large group 4 adults and 3 children, we are very patient people, so we never mind if there is a wait on food, service etc. Really the only good thing about our visit. To begin with I will say that our server Ellie was super nice and keep checking on us. It is far from being top notch as Legend's in Columbia, yes you might think because I have eaten at Legend's for so long, I am bias but that isn't true, there were several big differences between the restaurants. Needless to say, this will be my and my family's one and done visit. We are planning to move to the area soon and wanted to try the restaurant since it is affiliate with Legend's. This was our first visit to Brass Lantern, we travelled here to eat this evening because we eat a lot at Legend's in Columbia. Wish I had some of that French toast and frittata right now. You would never have known that she probably had a dozen things needing to be accomplished before the next guests checked in later that day. Mary Anne was simply "hanging out" in the cozy living room area, visiting with two of the guests who had checked out, but were not able to go to their next destination for awhile. One of several things that struck me about their sincere interest in their guests was when I went to say goodbye (after George had once again helped us get our luggage to and from our second floor room). But, with all these positives, the icing on the cake had to be the warmth and genuineness of Mary Anne and George, our hosts. Our spacious, tastefully decorated room, Spruce Peak, had a comfortable queen bed and a day bed with roomy en suite bath. who just happen to have a beautiful home and serve gourmet breakfasts! The panoramic views of the mountains from our room and from the dining room, were spectacular. From the friendly welcome and tour of the property to the warm goodbyes, you feel you're visiting old friends. My sister and I decided to visit Vermont in the summer rather than the fall this year and found it has so much to offer in any season and one of the highlights was our stay at the Brass Lantern. Down the road from the B&B there is a great Cider Mill where you can taste cider which tastes more like wine. The Sterling Falls Gorge has a nature trail. My favorite is Moss Glen Falls, which has less people and a great path. ![]() The bike trail on Stowe Recreation Path is great for biking as well as walking. The location is great as there are many activities for both adults and children. I inquired about the possibility of getting one of the recipes and received it the next day. Georges is a wonderful cook and the breakfasts reflected his expert touch. The bathroom provides nice toiletry items and the towels are large and soft. The window offers a wonderful view of Mt Mansfield. It is the smallest room in the B&B and yet it has all the amenities and comforts. We were taken through several rooms which contained very comfortable and inviting seating areas and a nice porch. First we went through the large and sunny breakfast room where we smelled the aroma of Mary Anne's homemade cookies that she bakes every day. Mary Anne welcomed us warmly and showed us around the B&B.
